Caffeine withdrawal may cause headache

This most commonly applies to caffeine, but technically it can happen with other substances as well. If you’re used to drinking coffee to get through your days, there is going to be a large break period between the evening and when you have your next fix. For some, this duration is enough to trigger the symptoms of caffeine withdrawal and the timing means you could be waking up with a bad headache every day and not realizing the cause. Oh, and caffeine is a diuretic, so it can contribute to dehydration, another cause of headaches.
